Trumpeter Swans

Tomorrow morning my friend, Jim, and I are heading to Monticello, MN, to see if there are any Trumpeter Swans left. Many of them winter on the Mississippi River which does not freeze at this location due to a power plant. Some of the homeowners feed the birds during the winter by using an amazing contraption consisting of a farm wagon loaded with feed that's conveyed down to the river by an auger. To read more about this, click here. If you haven't been there before, make sure you print out the pdf booklet with a map & directions on how to get to the viewing site. It is on a dead end residential street and easy to miss. After tomorrow's trip, we will let you know if it is still worthwhile making the trip.
