Oh, how I wish I could have gotten a better shot!
Until yesterday I didn't have ANY photos of Scarlet Tanagers. All of last year I think I saw only one. This may be better than nothing, but at least I know where to look now -- near the entrance that leads to the fire tower north of Sunrise River.
Other sightings included Sandhill Cranes, Great Blue Herons, Common Yellow-throats, Marsh Wrens, and some swans at too great a distance to identify. The Black Terns have not returned yet. I thought I saw a Bank Swallow, but I didn't detect any activity at the sand pit near Pool 4 where they have previously nested.
